Welcome to RollingTree interviews, Belly. How are you today?
BELLY WALKER
I’m great. What the heck is a rollingtree anyway?
RT
I’m asking the questions here. So Belly, you seem to be rather cerebral for a dog. What would you say to those who suggest there are too many big words in this book for it to have been written by a dog? A one-year-old puppy at that?
BW
What most people don’t realize is that dogs are naturally smarter than most humans in some ways. You’ll never see a dog mowing a lawn or smoking cigarettes.

I can’t argue with that. Alright then, tell me this: is it true every dog has its day?
BW
Yep. Every day. Over and over again. At least for dogs that have found good humans to take care of. It’s in our genes... We need to make someone happy to be happy. Actually it’s the same for humans but like I said, they’re not that smart about some things.

No need to be insulting.
BW
Don't get me wrong. Humans are are the best! Especially mine. I would be miserable without my human. I think I speak for most of my people when I say that, and I’m not just talking about the shelter, kibble, and occasional English muffins. Mmmmm...English muffins.

Some might say it’s just genetic adaptation for survival’s sake.
BW
Doesn’t really matter does it? And it works both ways.

Now that you’ve written this book, what’s next?
BW
I’ve decided I want to be a fisher when I grow up, so I’m constantly in training for that.

Not a writer?
BW
Where’s the fun in that? Now fishing...what could be more fun than spending all day in the creek, chasing wrigglers?

Any technique tips?
BW
Well, I like to get my whole head under...maybe blowing some bubbles in the process, but I know you guys have your own odd methods. Also, I have to admit, my success rate is kinda low. Something like zero so far.
