The John Muir Trail winds up the far South/right ridge of Mt Whitney at center to Trail Junction just barely left below the low ridge point Trail Pass saddle, before turning left in a long traverse of the ridge to Mt Whitney summit out of sight left on the front/East side of Mt Whitney.
