Forester Pass South with Notes - John Muir Trail
The highest pass on the JMT at mile 190, Forester pass crosses the King Kern Divide separating Kings Canyon National Park from Sequoia National Park. The impressively catwalk like cliff trail over Forester Pass was completed in 1931, replacing the more circuitous route over Junction Pass and Shepards pass to the east. In 1930, Donald Downs was critically injured during construction of the trail, and died soon after. California, Sierra Nevada mountains, Sequoia National Park. Off the John Muir Trail near Mile 192.
