EARTH FLYOVER TIME LAPSE
Editing of ISS astronauts footage by Michael König.
Lovely compilation of NASA / Intenational Space Station flyover views of Earth from space. From the Vimeo video description: Time lapse sequences of photographs taken by the crew of expeditions 28 & 29 onboard the International Space Station from August to October, 2011, who to my knowledge shot these pictures at an altitude of around 350 km. All credit goes to them. HD, refurbished, smoothed, retimed, denoised, deflickered, cut, etc. All in all I tried to keep the looks of the material as original as possible, avoided adjusting the colors and the like, since in my opinion the original footage itself already has an almost surreal and aestethical visual nature. QUOTE OF THE DAY
"Alice laughed, "There's no use trying," she said; "one can't believe impossible things." "I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was younger, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Alice in Wonderland ( Lewis Carroll )

ALMA-TADEMA
Jan 8, 1836 - Jun 25, 1912
Born in the Netherlands, trained in classical painting at The Royal Acedemy of Antwerp, Belgium, Alma-Tadema achieved immediate success, and by the early 1870's when he moved to England, he was famous for his historically accurate paintings. Late in his career, as post impressionism and cubism came into favor, his work was widely denounced and ridiculed for the next 40 years until again gaining critical approval in recent decades.

AI RIDERS ON THE STORM JACKET
Giovanni Chicco for Comei & Co.
Designed by Giovanni Chicco, under license to Comei & Co. What could possibly be more fun than a coat that makes you look like a cross between Spider Man and an astronaut! I think I'll order one just to freak people out at the supermarket.

29 YEARS AND HEARING HERSELF FOR THE FIRST TIME
Sarah Churman
If this doesn't bring a little tear to your eye you might have a heart made of coal. From her description: I was born deaf and 8 weeks ago I received a hearing implant. This is the video of them turning it on and me hearing myself for the first time. :) For those of you who have asked, the implant I received was Esteem - offered by Envoy Medical. Check out my blog: http://sarahchurman.blogspot.com/. Sarah Churman. My book will be available in October. Go to WWW.INDIGORIVERPUBLISHING.COM to reserve your copy. :)

MARS CURIOSITY ROVER
Upon reaching it's scenic Mars destination, the Curiosity Rover promptly flagged down a passing friendly Martian. "Would you mind taking a quick photo of me for my friends back home", the giddy tourist reportedly asked. Or it might be that this is a stitched togethor set of photos taken from it's extended robot arm. Photo credits: National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
The car sized Curiosity rover is the 4th craft ( that we know of ) to land on Mars. The trike sized Sojourner landed in 1997 and the golf cart sized Spirit and Opportunity landed in 2004. Launched on Nov 26 2011, Curiosity landed 8 months later on Aug 6 2012. Here we see 2 NASA technicians arguing about a rock while the rovers wait anxiously for them to throw it again.

WATER JETPACK
FlyBoard by Franky Zapata.
Strap on this little $7K baby invented by Franky Zapata and you can fly 45 feet over the water or porpoise in and out on a jetted column of water. A jet ski trails behind, tethered to you on the end of a 50 ft hose, and the water shoots down from your feet Iron Man style, (plus a little bit from under your hand throttle controls for guidance). Attach a short spear to your head and you can impale tuna for your lunch at the same time.

GOOGLE STREET VIEW TREKKER
Google is slowly incorporating the 360 degree "street view" of it's maps beyond the streets to anyplace man can walk using it's backpack mounted, 15 camera "Trekkers". Should be nice for pre scouting all your favorite hiking trails. Looks like we're seeing the next step in getting a virtual window to every spot on earth.
